All Work And No Play
Wow. I've been gone long. o.O Let's see... I started my internship as a nurse at the ER in the end of May. I was supposed to work there for two weeks but after the first week my dad was hospitalized so Mir and I flew to England. My dad has an inborn heart condition and since the stroke last year his heart hasn't been working all that well... V-V Anyway, he had some complications so he was put into hospital and they *finally* had a surgery to fix his heart. ^-^ So, now he's recovering and the prognosis looks really good. All is well again. ^-^

After I got back from UK, I went back to the internship and started my two weeks at the cancer ward. That was really hard... It's really depressing to see terminally ill people at the end of their life. V.V I hung out a lot with this kid who was barely 15 years old and had a couple of months left to live and he knew that but still he was able to make jokes and talk about girls and stuff like nothing was wrong. It was amazing to see how someone could be so positive even when he knew this was it. I wish I'd be able to be like that when my time's up... V-V

On a happier note: after the depression weeks I spent the next two weeks at pediatrics, which totally helped to restore my faith in this life. ^-^ And now I'm in the middle of my ICU training, which is also a little depressing... but it's *never* boring. I guess that's good. o.O This was supposed to be the last two-week-period of my internship but I still have to complete the ER training I missed so I still have a week to go after this. So two weeks in total 'til the whole thing is over and I get my final statement and grades. Yikes! *O* Wish me luck! ^-^

About the rest of my summer: Mir and I are going to England at the end of this month and then there's Dragon*Con in Atlanta just before school starts up again. ^-^ That's about it. I go back to work in the mid August so I get to holiday a little before that... Besides, I still don't know where I'll be working! ^O^ I have the position at the hospital pharmacy but if I asked the asylum they would probably take me there like they promised. For work, not as a patient, btw. ^-* And once I get my final statement from this training, I'm thinking of applying for a position as a nurse. Then again, since I still have school left my old job might work best since I get to do half day and have flexible hours -so basically I get to work when I have time. So, I have no idea what I'll end up doing. We'll just have to see about that... ^-*

Oh, I finally gave in and opened an MSN account... ^~^ So, now I can be found on their messenger. If I ever have time or patience to open it. Anyway: benzamin_k@hotmail.com
